investor, who was chosen to appear in C4’s ‘The Secret Millionaire’.
You will hear about Caroline’s journey from being made redundant from
Zambian Airlines to establishing a highly profitable property portfolio,
and a mentoring and coaching business. She will also share the keys to
her success, and seven simple steps from startup to business success.
Caroline Marsh is a highly successful buy-to-let property investor, who was chosen to appear C4's 'The Secret Millionaire' in September 2008. Thanks to the highly cash-positive portfolio she had built – and continues to expand - as a Platinum Property Partners (PPP) franchise partner, together with her natural determination, resilience, generosity, capability and integrity, she was able to make a real difference to two projects in Toxteth, Liverpool. The Dingle Community Learning project – which provides computers and other learning facilities for young adults in Toxteth - has had their roof fixed and premises refurbished, and Dijuana, a single mother who offers after-school activities to keep young people off the streets, has had both financial assistance and personal and business development mentoring from both Caroline and some of her colleagues, via PPP. The experience made Caroline realise that there must be similar people in need of support, inspiration and encouragement in her home town of Swindon, and over the past two years since she filmed for C4, she has been working with the Mayor of Swindon, her local MP and local businesses to make a difference. She has been giving talks and holding coaching sessions and encouraging businesses to sponsor and support young people in enterprise projects
In early 2009 she helped launch the 'Make Your Mark With a Tenner' campaign in Swindon – a nationwide initiative, headed by Peter Jones, where schoolchildren are given ten pounds and a month to come up with a small business which contributes to the local community and also makes a profit. Caroline was keen for local businesses to be involved in working alongside the children, and successfully got both major employers and small businesses together to commit to share their expertise with the schools. It worked so well that this year the 'Make Your Mark' head office in London is looking to replicate the initiative nationwide!
In addition to working with Peter and the 'Make Your Mark' team, which she is doing again this year, Caroline was on the judging panel for 'Enterprising Britain 2009', to find the most enterprising place in the UK; has been working alongside Esther Rantzen as part of the Family Commission with the '4 Children' charity – an 18 month campaign focused on families; is an Ambassador for the 'Have a Heart' charity in Wiltshire and is endorsing the Vodafone 'World of Difference' charity initiative.
More recently, Caroline was also on the judging panel for 'Women On Their Way, 2010' she has also recently featured in various magazines such as : business wings, Real Business, Franchise Magazine, Smarta.com, Marie Claire.
Since the programme aired, Caroline has become well-respected as an inspirational and motivational speaker, and her engagements have ranged from speaking to MPs and businesspeople at Westminster, to being part of a franchisee panel for visitors at the British and International Franchise Exhibition. She was recently the guest speaker at a business networking evening at Bang & Olufsen's Swindon branch, and has travelled around the country talking to both large and small groups of women in business and entrepreneurial young people, including taking part in. The response that she has had from people over the past 18 months has led to her setting up a personal development coaching and mentoring business.
Their 'Secrets of Success' group, which is committed to inspiring and education people keys to achieving financial success using tools and systems which are simple to use. Caroline is continuing to build her property portfolio in and around Swindon, working on joint ventures with other investors, and is moving her own speaking and coaching businesses forward by networking with nationally recognised leaders in the field.
